Giant pumpkin takes the Colne Valley Food Festival by storm!
Baylis Court Secondary School won the Giant Pumpkin competition at the Colne Valley Food & Music Festival, held on Sunday 30th September, with their huge pumpkin that weighed in at 34kg!

News: Enterprising St. Mary's C of E Win Trophy
St Mary's C of E Primary School, Slough, raised over £200 at the Colne Valley Food & Music Festival by selling a dazzling array of cakes, breads & chutneys. They are the proud winners of the the Love Local Food Enterprise Trophy and all proceeds will be reinvested in the school garden.

Douay Martyrs pupils work with corporate volunteers
Corporate volunteers from General Mills worked side by side with a group of very enthusiastic 6th formers to transform a disused area of the school grounds into a growing space.
Work their socks off!
The 6th form students worked their socks off over 2 days to build a polytunnel, raised beds and tidy up the area. They were joined on the second day by 5 corporate volunteers who helped them finish the job in record time.

Fox attack at Yeading Infant and Juniors
A group of cunning urban foxes have caused serious damage to the polytunnels both and Yeading Infant and Junior schools. Work is now underway to find a way to deter the foxes from creating any further damage.

Minet Juniors still growing peppers in December!!
Minet Junior schools still have peppers, radishes and lettuces growing in their polytunnel.
Temperature drop
Despite the recent drop in temperatures Minet Junior School still have a beautiful crop of green peppers ready to harvest from their polytunnel! They have also planted radishes and winter lettuce to keep them going through the winter.

The construction of a polytunnel in the playground at Alexandra Juniors caused great excitement!
Now a team of budding reporters in year 6 are busy writing newspaper articles to keep the rest of the school informed about all the exciting things happening in the school's new growing space.

Parents rally to build St Mary's polytunnel
Over 20 parents turned up during the 3 day construction event to build a polytunnel at St Mary's primary school. A huge thank you to everyone who helped out. I am sure you will be looking forward to tasting the results in the summer.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the school staff and an exceptionally skillful parent volunteer the polytunnel shot up. The school have already managed to plant plenty of radishes, peas and beans so we should expect a lovely early crop!
